What is the little nub inside the front trunnion of my Vepr sporter 7.62x39?

Is this to help the bolt turn as it goes into battery?

The bolt is rubbing the edge wearing the nub and bolt into each other; is this normal break-in wear?

Post some pics when you can.How many rounds you run through it? You will get some break in wear in AKs at contact points.Combloc milspec guns are heat treated properly but usually come with rough machined parts. The more you shoot them the smoother the action will get.

It's on the left side of the trunnion and looks like it's in line with the smaller rivet. It sticks out maybee 1/4 inch and is 1/8 inch in diameter. There is a factory angle cut on the bolt that it contacts.

The wear on the "bump rivit" is normal. Those rivits can take a beating and will only wear so much. They are what rotate the bolt to lock into battery. To help with imports for sporters, rather than having a bullet guide do the rotation, the rivit takes its place. Enjoy your rifle.

Cool, that clears that up. I thought the rivet was not smashed when first looking at it.

Curious how this bump rivet was installed? Is it a 2 pieces that were pressed together from each side?

I believe its a one piece rivit that's flared on inside. It won't go anywhere. Vepr are built like Panzers.Ive never heard of anyone have one fail..... Welcome to the forum!
