Made some progress so far.

I think yesterday Mark made a feed lip assembly and rear lug to test. The feedlip had a couple cracks in it due to the die still being sharp, just needs some more stoning. The test mag locked in very solidly despite not having the spacer ribs put on it. Our first three attempts at the follower failed miserably, only locking the bolt back sometimes, and generating a bunch of odd feeding.

We are now updating an older follower design that was used in the original test batch of Saiga-12 mags. Our first couple tests with that follower worked very well.
Some more equipment needs to be made for final testing.

I'm looking forward to finally shooting my Vepr-12.

I may have made another AK shotgun convert today. If so, I'll be pointing him at these.

Have you looked into doing adkal/ BR99 mags?

I've looked into making MKA mags, I'm still working on accumulating the machinery needed to make something like that.

I'd need robotic TIG, precision mig, or a gigantic resistance welder with self powered rolling seam welding arms.

Also a larger press which I'm still trying to get bought and shipped in for rebuild. I need it for our M77 magazines, so its probably going to be here by summer.

Very nice. Do you have access to a JTE magwell? I'd really like to see how much mods are needed to work.

Anybody try this? Im thinking about attempting something along these lines but am planning on modding the magwell not the mags. It seems like it would be the path of least resistance (using JTE or SGM magwell) v.s. trying to fit a Molot magwell to a S-12, mainly because of the difference in width and height of the mag catch bosses.
